The Municipal District of Bonnyville's Agricultural Services Department operates a Roadside Fenceline Clearing Program to help farmers maximize cultivation on their land by clearing overgrown brush.
While a new fence cannot be erected any closer to the road than the property line, it may be placed a greater distance from the road to facilitate the planting of shelter belts.
The amount of the incentive can range from $500 to $2,500 per half-mile depending on the amount of brush and rocks that needs to be removed to clean up the area.
Further details and conditions of the program are available on the Roadside Back-Sloping Application Form (PDF).
