City of Cold Lake

Pristine waters, rugged wilderness, majestic wildlife, and all the amenities to make your experience unforgettable. The City of Cold Lake gets you away from big city madness within a short drive. Tucked away on the eastern border of the Municipal District of Bonnyville, Cold Lake is the transition zone from the Aspen Parkland region to the Boreal mixed wood forest.

Downtown Cold Lake
Downtown Cold Lake is lined with shops to suit every taste. Stock up on treasures from two home decor emporiums. The accessory store carries stylish clothes for men and women. Next door you’ll find a children’s clothing store, which is a grandmother’s dream. Across the street is the best lingerie boutique in Alberta. An expansive shoe store is just a block away. Off the main thoroughfare is Hamel’s Meats. Try their popular beef jerky, one of the items taken into space by our Canadian astronauts. Pick out a favourite board game for the young ones at the toy store down the street. When you’re finished shopping, grab lunch or supper at one of the restaurants scattered throughout the downtown core.

Cold Lake Lakeshore
The beauty of the Cold Lake Marina can take your breath away. The newly upgraded Kinosoo Beach makes you want to play all day.
Take a walk along the Marina breakwater. You might glimpse the “Legend of the Kinosoo”, the big fish that the Dene Suline believe lurks in the depths Cold Lake.
The Marina provides the largest boat launch on the lake, as well as fuel, a pump out system, sail boat lifting mast and a fish cleaning station. Fishing is allowed on the outside of the breakwater. Call 780-639-3316 for service.
Further down the lakeshore you’ll find Kinosoo Beach, a three-block-stretch of fine sand named one of the top 25 beaches in Canada. A splash park, beach volleyball courts, zip line, children’s playground, concession stand and the occasional live performances help break up the long summer days. Mobile watersport rentals are also available.
A bite to eat can be found along the lakeshore and one block back. Fishermen can bring their catch into Clark’s General Store and Eatery and they’ll whip up their unique recipe – just give them advance notice.
Outdoor enthusiasts can check out Lakeside Marine & Off Road for boat, quad and sled accessories, parts and repairs. They sell Lake Trout fishing tackle, bait, tubes, ropes and outboard engines.
