Since Spring 2022 there have been 35 Alberta premises infected with the federally and provincially reportable disease, Avian Flu.
Cases included 22 commercial poultry operations, 12 small/backyard poultry flocks, and one commercial game bird flock.There were no cases reported between June 2 and July 28, 2022. However, four new cases have been identified since then which coincides with the fall migration.
If you suspect your flock has Avian Flu, please contact the Office of the Chief Provincial Veterinarian at 780-427-3448. You can also find further information on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website.
