Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) provides Fire Protection, 911 Dispatch Services, as well as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to many areas in North East Alberta. In addition to the Municipal Fire Service, EMS, and Emergency Services Dispatch, the Authority also provides industrial fire protection services under contract to Imperial Oil Resources and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.

Service Areas

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority consists of 9 Fire Stations spread throughout the Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87, Emergency Medical Services under contract to Alberta Health Service and 911 Emergency Fire Dispatch. The fire stations are located in Goodridge, Glendon, Iron River, Lacorey, Bonnyville, Ardmore, Fort Kent and the City of Cold Lake (contracted for the Cold Lake area of the M.D. of Bonnyville). Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority Administration is also the management and administration body for the Emergency Medical Services and 911 Emergency Dispatch centres both located in Bonnyville. The BRFA provides 911 Services and Fire Dispatch services to municipalities in the Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87, County of St. Paul and Smoky Lake County as well as Cold Lake and Kehewin First Nations and Buffalo Lake and Elizabeth Metis Settlements. We are also in the process of implementing 911 services for Frog Lake and Saddle Lake First Nations.

Fireworks

The M.D. of Bonnyville requires a Fireworks permit for all fireworks discharged in the M.D. These permits can be purchased from any licensed fireworks retailer in the M.D. of Bonnyville or the Town of Bonnyville when purchasing fireworks. For fireworks purchased outside of the M.D. of Bonnyville or the Town of Bonnyville, discharge permits can be obtained from the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (4407 – 50 Avenue, Bonnyville) during regular business hours Monday to Friday.

Sale, possession and discharge of fireworks in the M.D. of Bonnyville without a permit issued by the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority either directly or through a licensed retailer is subject to prosecution under the Alberta Safety Codes Act or the Municipal Fire Services bylaw.

Permits issued by other municipalities are invalid in the M.D. of Bonnyville.
