Background

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority was formed in 1996 as a joint agency to provide fire protection services to the Municipal District of Bonnyville and the Town of Bonnyville.

In addition, the Cold Lake Fire Department provides services to the eastern edge of the municipal district through a contract. This covers a geographical area of approximately 7,132 square kilometres.

Budget

Our annual operating budget is 55% funded by the two municipalities.

Stations

The current make up of the authority includes a seasonal station located at Crane Lake, and continual fire stations at:

  • Goodridge
  • Glendon
  • Iron River
  • Bonnyville
  • LaCorey
  • Fort Kent
  • Ardmore


Staff

Our current staff level is:

  • Approximately 180 volunteers
  • Four casual staff
  • Four full-time staff
  • Four part-time staff

Board of Directors

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority is administered by a Board of Directors, which is made up of equal representatives from the two sponsoring municipalities. The Board of Directors is comprised of the following members with the mayor and reeve alternating as chair and vice-chair:
