Hiking/Biking
From flat, paved trails to challenging terrain through nature, our regional biking and hiking trails offer a variety of experiences.
The Cold Lake Bike Park & Trails, which surround the Cold Lake Museums, has kilometres trails, a pump track, jump features, and more. The Park contains year-round, multi-user (non-motorized), single track, mountain bike trails for all skill levels. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for trail conditions and event information.
If you want to end your hike or bike trek with a dip in the lake, Cold Lake Provincial Park has an excellent trail system for hiking and mountain biking. The public beach area is one of best spots to access the water.
For a more urban setting, the 12-kilometre paved Millennium Trail takes you through the City of Cold Lake and into 4 Wing. The trail also connects to the Heritage Trail along the lakeshore. Grab an ice cream cone at the marina, or grab lunch at one of the restuarants close by.
In the Bonnyville area, take a leisurely stroll, long hike, or cycle through the M.D.’s Muriel Lake Park. The 13-kilometre trail system includes a path to the Lookout which offers the best view of the lake.
Moose Lake Provincial Park provides plenty of wildlife action on its six kms of trails. The tall pines are simply majestic.
Wildlife sightings are plentiful when you walk or ride along the 10-kilometre Wetlands Trail around Jessie Lake, which borders the Town of Bonnyville. You can now walk from the Town to Vezeau Beach via the connected trail, which leads you to the tunnel that takes you under Highway 28. Continue along the trail to Moose Lake, or take the branch of the trail that goes to the east to explore the paved North Shore Heights Trail. This section goes all the way north to the intersection with the multi-use Iron Horse Trail, ending at Hwy. 660.

Motocross
The Cold Lake Motocross Association has a state-of-the-art raceway providing the highest calibre of motocross track in the field today. Annual events include trade shows, race weekends, training and provincial races. Yearly and daily memberships are available.

ATV Riding
The 300 km multi-use Iron Horse Trail connects many of the area's natural gems and tourist attractions. The Beaver River Trestle, at one kilometer long and 60 metres high, is one of the highlights of the Trail. Riders can use the Iron Horse Trail to access countless kilometres of backcountry trails and cutlines that weave through the region's more rugged terrain. Riders looking to explore the entire Cold Lake/Bonnyville area can hook up with the Iron Horse Trail at a variety of entry points. The Iron Horse Trail branches in three directions from mile zero at Abilene Junction. To the northeast is Bonnyville, to the west is Smoky Lake and Waskatenau, and to the southeast lies St. Paul, Elk Point and Heinsburg.
Well-used trails are also located north of Crane Lake and the May Lake Trail is northwest of Cold Lake. Cutline trails can be found around Wolf Lake.
Recreational Shooting
Bonnyville Shooting Sports Association
The club promotes the safe and enjoyable pastime of leisure and competitive shooting for all disciplines. It is partially open to the public. It is a provincially regulated shooting range certified for handguns, rifles, shotguns and archery. There are three pistol ranges, 100 metre archery range, rifle range - 100, 200, & 300 metres. They have trap, skeet, and sporting clay for shotguns. Trap/Skeet/Sporting shooting is held on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons and is open to all. The shotgun area is also open for private parties, corporate team building and events. The range is located eight km south of the Bonnyville Neighbourhood Inn. The club is now offering Black Badge training for pistol shooting and will be offering courses in 2017 for the non-restricted and restricted PAL. They will be holding IPSC league practices and other events. Please look at the calendar on the website for all events and courses.

Hunting
There are plenty of big game opportunities in the Bonnyville/Cold Lake Region, along with game birds. In the woodlands, trophy game is always a possibility. The lush boreal forest and abundance of water bodies provide the perfect breeding ground for a wide variety of game. Whitetail and mule deer, moose, bear and a host of upland and migratory game birds, make every hunting excursion an adventure.
