The Council of the Municipal District of Bonnyville recently agreed to conduct a Census.
Due to our rapidly expanding population, Council felt the numbers from the 2011 federal Census were no longer accurate. Having accurate numbers helps the municipality maximize the amount of grant funding it receives from the federal and provincial governments said Reeve Ed Rondeau.
"Each resident, no matter what their age, represents a set dollar value in grant funding. As Council watched our development statistics increase over the past three years, we realized that the M.D. was missing out on some government funding," Rondeau said. "Up-to-date census information also allows Council to plan for future services and to calculate cost-sharing agreements with neighbouring municipalities."
The Census will run from April 1 to May 31, 2014. All property owners in the M.D. will be receiving a Personal Identification Number (PIN) in the mail on April 1.
