It’s #WasteWednesday again, and this week we’re talking about glass recycling.
Glass is accepted for recycling at our seven landfill transfer stations and three of the larger bin sites – Moose Lake Meadows, Cherry Ridge, and North Shore Heights.
The glass we collect isn’t recycled into new glass, but instead finds a new life after it is dropped off at the concrete pile at the La Corey Landfill to be crushed and reused. This crushed material will then be used in the road construction and repair process by our Transportation Department. In fact, both concrete piles at La Corey and Ardmore Landfills will be crushed this summer!
If recycling glass jars, please remember to rinse them out and remove the lids before placing the items in the glass collection bin.
Thanks for continuing to help us divert waste from landfills!
