#WasteWednesday March 10, 2021

This week we’re talking about our door-to-door waste collection program.

Did you get one of these reminder tags on your cart yesterday?
Green Tag
We are reminding residents that there are some rules to follow with the door-to-door cart program that will benefit both you and your neighbours.

Have your carts out by 7 a.m. on Tuesday. Equipment and staff availability as well as the weather sometimes requires that we alter the collection schedule. If your garbage is out by 7 a.m. and isn’t picked up Tuesday, then it will be in the coming days as we wait for the weather to warm up or equipment to be repaired and become available.

Carts must have six feet of clearance on all sides to access with our garbage truck and Curotto can attachment.

All waste in the carts must be bagged. When the carts are tipped, loose litter will vacate the cart and there is a good chance that it will end up in your or your neighbour’s front yard.
Loose Garbage in Cart
All bags must be contained in your cart with the lid closed. Open lids on carts allow birds and other wildlife access to a free meal that will be spread all over the street and into nearby front yards.
Curbside garbage
We like to use the reminder tags as way of gently reminding residents of the expectations placed upon them for program participation. However, there are penalties which may be levied if residents remain non-compliant. Fines begin at $100 and can be up to $600 per offence.

The door-to-door collection program takes place every Tuesday for roughly 450 households in Emerald Estates, Fort Kent, Ardmore, Countryside Estates, and Country Lane Estates.
