May 20, 2022 – Due to a recent increase in dog-at-large complaints throughout the M.D., the Public Safety Department is urging residents to ensure their dogs are properly secured on their property.
When found at large, dogs that are licensed may be apprehended and turned over to the SPCA until the owner is located. Additionally, unlicensed dogs may be apprehended, and the owner fined under local Bylaws. Please ensure your dogs are tagged – a new M.D. dog license is $20.00 and a replacement tag is $5.00.
As we collectively spend more time outside this summer, please be aware that barking dog complaints are common when dogs are left outside all day. When dogs become bored or anxious, they may start barking unnecessarily at neighbours, passing motorists, or children playing nearby. We understand and appreciate the work involved in being a responsible dog owner. If you have any questions, please contact Public Safety.
