The Bonnyville Community Baptist Church continues to provide services to Fort McMurray wildfire evacuees at its donation centre. The church is located at 4111-43 Ave.
Pastor Ben Smith says donation centre organizers are in need of some specific items. At the moment organizers are looking for:
All canned foods
Coffee creamer
Salt, pepper, and spices
Lots of jam and jelly
Ketchup, mustard, relish
Bug spray and sunscreen
Laundry soap
Canned fruit
Towels
Paper towels
RV friendly Toilet Paper
Boys size 8-10 pants
Smith says organizers are grateful for anyone wanting to bring gift cards for places like the Wholesale Club and Sobeys.
The church is looking for lightweight utility shelving, lent or donated, so it can start to organize items on shelves. If you have shelving you can lend or donate, please bring it to the Bonnyville Baptist Church. If you would like the shelving back please label it with your name.
Smith says donation centre organizers are looking for volunteers to help run the "store" for at least several more weeks. Shifts are 9-12, 12-3, or 3-6. Please text 780-812-9329 or call 780-826-4801 if you would like to sign up for a specific shift, or sign up on the schedule at the church. Organizers also need help on Thursday, May 26 to unload a shipment at the church. Please call or text if you can help.
Organizers have closed the Bonnyville Centralized High School gym donation centre and on Tuesday, May 24 starting at 6:00 p.m they will move the contents to the church. Smith says they are looking for someone to donate a semi-truck to pull a 40 foot trailer to and from the church and school. Organizers also need a few people to tear down the gym (rolling floor covering, sweeping, mopping, cleanup). Please text 780-812-9329 or call 780-826-4801 if you can help.
Specific donations from the list can be dropped off at the Bonnyville Baptist Church, located at 4111-43 Ave.
