January 25, 2018 - The Municipal District of Bonnyville along with Lakeland Co-Op are hosting a Canadian Cattle Identification Agency (CCIA) workshop February 1, 2018.
The free workshop, to be held at the Neighbourhood Inn (5011-66 St. Bonnyville) will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Christa Winsnes from CCIA will discuss Premises Identification (PID) and why it's needed in cattle operations. She will also be covering the changes coming to the Canadian Livestock Tracking System (CLTS) and how to perform tracking functions in the CLTS database.
Who should attend?
"All livestock owners will benefit from this workshop," said Matt Janz, director of the M.D.'s Agriculture and Waste Services Department. "It's important because it covers regulation changes and updates."
CCIA regulates the traceability of livestock. This becomes important when there is a disease outbreak. It allows them to find all animals that could be associated with the disease, and to stop the outbreak from spreading.

Lunch and snacks will be provided.
