[ARCHIVED] Cold Lake and Crane Lake M.D. Parks enhancing camp sites to be wheelchair accessible

Crane Lake Group Site

March 21, 2019 – The Municipal District of Bonnyville will be making two M.D.-operated campgrounds more wheelchair accessible this year.

The project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund – Small Project Component. The $50,905 grant will be used for the M.D.’s Municipal Parks Enhanced Accessibility Project, which will see four wheelchair-accessible camp sites installed at both the Cold Lake M.D. Park and Crane Lake M.D. Park. These sites will include wheelchair-accessible picnic tables.

“This is a great opportunity to make sure our parks can be enjoyed by everyone,” said Chris McCord, the M.D.’s director of Parks, Recreation and Culture. “We are happy to receive this grant which will help make our beautiful lakeside parks more accessible.”

Work on the sites will begin in the spring. McCord anticipates the sites will be ready for campers by the July 1 long weekend.
